When I first saw this I thought that the monster truck was on the outside and that some how they had thrown it from the deck and it got stuck there. Not sure what I was thinking. It was however difficult to get them out.

Because reading a book is so much better after you pull apart the couch. We did a little kid swap this day.
I thought this was a really cute one of the boys. Bennett was explaining the book to Ethan.
Titus and Genesis (cousins of PairSquared) reading together. How sweet.
And let’s not forget about the baby of the family, Selah.

I sent Brett to do pictures alone which was not my original intention. I didn’t expect it to be great, but I didn’t expect the phone call afterwards that went something like this…”Never Again!” I was at the Just Between Friends sale so all I could make out was that our kids don’t listen, Ethan almost got hit by a car, and maybe a few pictures turned out. This picture probably says it all for Brett.
Pictures were followed by a visit to the baseball field to see cousin Dade. My sister explained to me that Brett had to carry 3 children kicking and screaming back to the car as the onlooker parents whispered wondering if they should help that guy. I have seen our kids kick and scream so the thought of Brett having to fight 3 of them is overwhelming for even me. Jossie’s beautiful white dress came home to me with dirt and mustard stains.
It sounds like Brett didn’t have a great day.
Regardless of our twitchy children, Annie still got a few.
Ok, those are just the fun ones that I love (thanks for always including those Annie and never stop clicking)!!
She is a true professional.

Many people have experienced or probably are experiencing this right now. This is just my take on a new parenting technique that is trying and difficult.
We call it High Five Parenting…are you familiar? Essentially the concept is that parent #1 is home with the kids as parent #2 is working. When parent #2 returns to care for children, parent #1 leaves for work. In passing you high five (no time for a kiss).
The positive to this method is that parent 1 and 2 do not have to pay out any child care costs.
Downfalls is that parent #1 and #2 have a hard time doing much with the children outside of the home. Ok, this one is partly our fault since we have so many small children. And parent #1 and #2 don’t really see each other. Communication consists of texting, emailing, and yelling at each other through car windows while passing each other. Most of the time when I return home at night Brett is still awake.
Not complaining, well maybe a little. High Five Parenting has been quite prominent in the PairSquared household. Mostly has to do with spring sales/boutiques. We are looking forward to May being over. I can’t change anything at this moment, but something is going to have to give. Pushing hard for Thirty-One to take off a bit more. Trying to chisel out a little time for family time has been a challenge. And to finding time yourself is almost impossible. I promised one of my friends that come June I would find a little me time. Maybe I will let Brett join me too.
I might need to say Thank You to Brett for pulling through on this one. His nights are dinner and bedtime for 5. Thanks for being so patient. I am fully confident that our life will never slow down. Ha! Buckle in!

Ethan is a little helper. He calls everyone Honey and always wants to play cars with his brother Bennett.
So his new thing is drive thrus. Last week we pulled up to the bank to do a deposit and he asked me to order him french fries. Today we went to McDonalds and after the voice on the box asked for our order he said, “Oh Hello. I would like some chicken nuggets.” The window was closed when he asked and you should have seen his disappointment when we got home and there were no chicken nuggets.
Love you buddy!
At lunch last week, Bennett just shouted out…”I’m going to count the smiles in Spanish. Uno, Dose, Tres…”
My jaw dropped. He can do it, as can Ethan, as can the girls. Seriously I can’t take the credit for this at all. I am sure it is Brett’s brains and too much time watching Dora. In that case I can take credit for turning the Dora video on! I got him to redo it but it wasn’t nearly as good as the first time.
Every year in May, KPT does a Mother’s Day Program. The children sing a few songs about how great their moms are and then there is a tea party. So today was the day…
You won’t be able to locate Ethan and Bennett in the group because of my poor decision of sitting in the sanctuary in eye sight of the boys when they walk in. They cried and ultimately ended up sitting in the pew with me watching all their friends sing the songs. Sorry Anne Marie and Amy!
With 1 on 5 I choose to not attempt the snack portion of the event in the basement of the church.
My beautiful Mother’s Day gift. Here is one of those moments when I cash in on having so many kids. Other moms only got 1 flower, oh yes I got 4 to make a beautiful center piece. Boom! Ethan and Bennett’s hand prints are in the background…the card is sweet and reads…
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls. (see picture below)
But every day I’m growing
I’ll be grown up someday
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.
So here’s a final handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small.
Mother’s everywhere, PAUSE…take a mental picture of how small they are….PAUSE, PAUSE, OK now get out the Windex and clean the finger prints off the window.
I am going to be busy on Sunday so no time to blog. There is a trip to the Apple store at the MOA in my future (THANK YOU HUBBY!). He pretends to not listen and acts completely uninterested and then he cashes in. Blogging on the go. So I have to say Happy Mother’s day to my mom, grandma, the late Jane-O, family, and friends with little ones. Just because you get frustrated with q-tips spilled all over the bathroom floor and taping a diaper on at nap time does not mean that you don’t love it. I am the first to share the horrific moments and first to say I wouldn’t ever take it back. My life is that much better with PairSquared, different, but better.
