Potty Training Twins: Final Report

Mom left us on Saturday and we did continue to potty train.  Bennett only had one accident on his way to the bathroom.  However, when we put pull ups on them they do go and don’t tell us.  So I guess we had success if we can keep them bottomless forever.  Regardless we don’t use any diapers during the day so that is nice.

Today has been great.  I didn’t offer fluids as much curious to see if they can actually hold it for a while and they can.  Bennett didn’t go all morning.  I trust them to go to the bathroom so I don’t even have to sit in the same room watching them.  This might bite me at some point, but it isn’t like I never cleaned pee up before.

A sending off picture to give you one last smile of our potty training adventure.

Yes, that is in fact Brett’s tooth brush head to took 1 plunge in Bennett’s pool of pee.  I haven’t decided if I am going to tell him or not.

Potty Training Twins: Doing Really Really Good!

Sorry that you are not getting yesterdays report until now, but Mom was kind enough to let us go on a date last night.  Mom’s report after work yesterday, she only had 3 accidents!!  They didn’t go at all in the AM and then shortly after lunch both did a #2 in their potty and the rest of the day there was high fives and fruit snacks.  Brett took them on a bike ride last night and I took mom on a much needed adventure outside of the house.  They did great the rest of the night.  This morning we have already had one success and we are off to swim lessons.

So sorry that this post is less exciting for my audience.  I know how you love to laugh at my expense.  We are sure to have many more disgusting and hilarious stories as the years go on and plus we still have to train the girls.  I see potty training for them in the near future!

Potty Training Twins Possible Success

I worked tonight and this is what I came home to.

DSC_0827-001

Mom was cleaning up toys as 2 naked boys played around her and on her.  Sorry Mom!  And I really owe her that apology because for those followers that are newer to my site this is not the first time that I posted a picture of my mother from the behind, but the second.  However, this time in my defense I added the shades to make her look younger and hipper.

On to how our day went.  Kids up for breakfast.  They chose to put underwear on after their first sit on the potty.  I loaded up the girls to head to KPT and run a few errands.  I returned home mistakenly asking mom how it had gone…her response was “don’t ask”.  To say the least she had encountered a few accidents better known as messies in our house.  That is what Bennett tells us he did just after he leaves a wet spot on the carpet.  OK, back to the story…I was helping with Ethan’s melt down and asked if he pooped.  Why did I know?  Well because he smelled like it (a little smear left on his leg) .  Mom said they both pooped.  Ethan had a large one and she caught Bennett with a small one and got him on the potty.  It wasn’t until a little later that we discovered the remainder of Bennett’s poop by the front door.  Mom felt like she was cleaning up after a dog.  We were down in the dumps and trying to convince ourselves that it isn’t the end of the world if they don’t do it yet, but this was a difficult feat considering all the blood, sweat, and little boy tears that went into this.  It was after those last melt downs that we gave into trying to put underwear on them.  There was just too much confusion going from underwear, underwear off to potty, wanting a diaper, and giving an option of a pull up.  They were bottomless, well Bennett is the new Emilee and prefers the nude.  We rearranged the furniture to keep them in eyesight.  Couch blocked off the entry way, basement door closed, chairs both pushed against the walls.  We watched them like hawks!  We heard the pee hit the floor at lunch time and ran Bennett to the toilet.  I caught pee running down Ethan’s leg in the living room and ran him to the bathroom and he finished going.   We both saw Bennett stand straight up in the living room make a pee rainbow while keeping his eyes on his tv show.  We ran him to the bathroom and he finished.  Mom had to take a nap after this.  I sat on the stool in the living room facing them as they watched Kipper while they sat on a blanket on the floor.  I kept reminding them that they were not allowed to go on the floor while crossing my fingers that I wouldn’t have to grab a rag yet one more time.  Half way through Kipper they started bouncing around the living room and running around the kitchen island.  After one of the turns Bennett didn’t come out on the other side.  He had taken a detour and I thought for sure he went to the laundry room to hide and go pee.  I ran through the laundry room to the bathroom to find that Bennett had made his way to the bathroom and peed in the potty on his own.  VICTORY!!  Well, sort of.  We have twins HALF OF A VICTORY!  I continued to watch them, mom woke up and came downstairs.  Before I had even left for work Bennett had gone to the bathroom again on his own and Ethan also found his way to a potty and peed!  While I was at work it didn’t continue quite the same way, but one of my couch cushions never looked so clean.  Keep in mind that mom had 4 to watch so it gets tricky.  The night ended with snack time when Bennett quickly got down from his seat and ran past me to the bathroom.  Even though he left a small puddle in his booster seat I am counting that one as a success.

We are feeling like quite possibly Bennett might get this.  Tomorrow mom has the boys alone.  Good luck Grandma Cheryl and may the force be with you!

Potty Training Twins With Reinforcement

DSC_0823

Yup, Grandma Cheryl is here.  Makes sense 2 kids on 2 adults.  I am sure you are excited to hear about our day.

The day started about 11am when Grandma arrived.  She quickly located her supplies (ie: pull ups and cotton underwear) and promptly sat Ethan and Bennett down to tell them that they would not be wearing diapers today.  They seemed ok with the news but things went quickly down hill.  After several pees on the floor, we had a face smash into the floor when I was running after Ethan to bring him to the bathroom.  This resulted in a screaming/cuddling session.  Due to the loud crying, i took me some time to realize why my stomach was all the sudden feeling warm.  I ran to the bathroom with Ethan held close so that the pee didn’t go anywhere other than my clothes but really it was too late and how do you put a child with a bloody, fat lip on the potty when they are crying.  Jocelyn was utilizing the potty at the moment anyway.  Jocelyn proceeded to roam the house and upstairs with out a diaper on which led Grandma chasing after her.  Bennett came to the top of the stairs where I was trying to reason with Ethan to let go of me so I could change, and at this moment I discovered Bennett had peed.  I took off his underwear, while still holding Ethan in my lap, and unknown to me a large lump of poop hit the carpet.  So I held the wet underwear and lump of poop and hoped that Bennett would not sit down on anything until mom finished with Jocelyn.  She chuckled at this one, but luckily didn’t hesitate to take the wet underwear and flush the brown ball down the toilet.  Back downstairs where I stepped in the spot on my living room floor that Bennett had decided to relieve himself.  Change my socks…and then get Ethan ready for a doctor’s appointment.  We returned and mom was surprisingly in a new outfit.  While reading to Bennett in the chair, mom got the warm and wet gift from Bennett.  The chair got it too, because later on this evening I sat down and quickly jumped out of the chair after I felt how wet it was.  We put Ethan on the potty and convinced him to sit there with a white erase board and markers.  I went back in later and LOOK….pee!!  We praised him and jumped up and down!!  Lots of high fives and of course some fruit snacks.  Ethan held it the rest of the night until mom put him in the tub.  Pretty sure a gallon of pee was added to the tub.  We had a few more messes with Bennett.  Grandma made him clean up one mess and refused to change his underwear for 5 minutes.  After that I sent her to take a nap.  I went to go get dinner tonight which is when Bennett had his last accident right in front of the refrigerator.  Watched him close the rest of the night, put him on the potty before taking a bath and LOOK….Poop!!  He said, “Look Mama, I did it!”  We sang a happy song, high fived, jumped around, fruit snacks, ran upstairs to tell Grandma the good news.  After bath time we put diapers back on and put them to bed early.

They were tired, but not as tired as us.

2012 Jane’s Jubilee: Souhrada Women’s Retreat

What an amazing weekend.  I was up past midnight every night and believe I accomplished more in 3 days than I would have otherwise accomplished in 3 months at home.  I loved every minute of it!!  My projects were all complete: 1 walking rope, 1 pillowcase dress, 10 bibs, 2 Easter hats, displays for hair clips, and 130 pairs of PairFect Legs!  I came, I conquered!

This weekend has been a 5 year tradition at a few different locations.  I think this location took our sewing hearts!  Along for the ride was Jane’s shoe.  Not forgotten!

2012.03.08 Jane's Jubilee

We went to Lester Prairie this year.  It was incredibly beautiful and we had so much space.  Going back next year!  This year we were short some family and it ended up being all mother/daughter.  It was a special weekend full of tribute to Jane.  On Friday we had an indoor bonfire complete with a fabric ring.  We did in fact sing Kum ba yah.

Jane was definitely hanging around during the weekend…

Family Love

Look who is growing up

One day I realized that the little peanut in this family is starting to look older.  I know that sounds weird since we don’t really have a baby of the family, but considering the weight difference of Aaliyah and Jossie we have always considered Jocelyn to be our baby.  So one day I was just looking at her thinking holy moly she is starting to look more like a little girl.  She is pretty sweet.  Her words are so good and I did look twice when she said “want some milk please”.  Pretty sure that the boys were not putting that many words together prior to age 2.

Tucked In and Tuckered Out

Brett took the boys to a birthday party and for the first time in a long time Ethan fell asleep.  I couldn’t find him.  I had to dig him out under all the toys and blankets.  I guess Bennett decided to tuck him in after he fell asleep.

Dora’s Backpack, Kind of

A new obsession.  Dora has taught them the love of a handy backpack.  Don’t tell the girls that their backpack doesn’t talk or possess magic to help them get to the top of star mountain.  An item that Swiper the Fox is sure to not have interest in.  I think it is pretty stinkin’ cute.

Just a little about Jackson…

55 and Sunny

Today was our first day outside.  I couldn’t get them to come in.  I had to lure them inside by telling them that we would take baths.  They had a blast and for the first time when they threw their truck and I didn’t have to yell, “no throwing toys.”  Outside play time has been missed.
