Change it or let it ride?

I couldn’t decide tonight whether I should change her diaper or let it ride until I needed to change her into her night time diaper.  It was so close to bedtime.

I don’t think that this outfit really helps.  This is going to be one of those pictures that will resurface on her high school graduation picture board and for sure her wedding slideshow.  I know she will be embarrassed and ask why I didn’t change it.  Really, it was because I had to get my camera to take the perfect picture before I got out the pj’s.  Come on admit it, you are smiling right now!

Jocelyn I do it because I love you!

Aailyah and Tow Mater

I looked over and she had climbed on Tow Mater by herself.  I think she has decided to go from walking to driving and just skip the walking milestone.

Love this girl and look at that red hair.  2 more of her top teeth have come in.

Welcome Back Memorial BBQ

Hello Minnesota!  I made it!  It was a race back on Sunday to make it to the tail end of the Scott Reunion in New Brighton.  I kept anticipating seeing the kids and getting hugs from the boys.  I came in the house and they happen to run around the corner through the kitchen.  The greeting was more than I had ever hoped.  So yes, Scott family I was happy to see you all, but I had to reunite with my family first.  I think I was there about an hour before we packed up and headed back to Eagan for bedtime.

The next day we had more family time with Brian, Titus, Genesis, and Selah.  Just hanging out in the garage.  This second mini family gathering followed by a reunion of the friends.

Pam and Bret had a baby boy named Pace about 6 weeks ago and Mike and Kristie’s Jackson is about 4 weeks.  This was the first time that all of us got together since the new additions to the volleyball team.  I noticed that adult talk has been replaced with us chasing children down the street, baby feedings, and cutting up hotdogs.  Our next gathering is going to be after bedtime!

Well it looks like it was Jackson’s bedtime.

And of course the little boys.

The shirt that Lane is wearing is one that I appliqued.  Not my best work.  Do notice in the other picture that Bennett is throwing his fruit snacks into the water.  Later they all ate them.  Yummy!DSC_6252DSC_6261

Well, I am happy to be sitting here having a quiet evening.  Brett is off playing volleyball this evening.  We share a spot with another couple that has children.  So basically the husbands and the wives take turns playing.  Somebody has to stay at home with the kids!

Lost

Here is what is going on in my life, just in case you are wondering where are the pictures and videos….

Well, I managed to lose my camera’s SD card for over a week now.  In the past week I have lost my phone 4 times.  Once in the garage, once in the car, once at a Twins game, once at Target.  It was really nice of the Target customer service guy to answer and tell me to come get it.  This is pretty par for the course when I am just busy with activity.  I think that this summer is going to be a slow one for the blog.  We find ourselves outside most nights with late bedtimes.

Tomorrow I am off to Chicago for the Child Life Conference.  This will be the longest that I will be away from the kids.  I only have had a few single overnights away since the boys were born.  This is 3 nights and I am nervous.  Not for Brett.  He will manage, but I know that I will want to go home.  I’m looking forward to spending time with my co-workers at Children’s and I am staying with my high school friend, Corey.  Sure to be a good time!

If I manage to get back to the cities with my phone it will be success.

Hand, hand, hand

Sorry this video is a bit shaky but it was tough keeping up with them.  The boys traveled to new territory behind the townhouse development.  As you notice they did it together.  When one gets scared (usually Bennett) they ask for the other person’s hand.  There is strength in brothers.

Boys and the girls have been enjoying the garage.  Swings are used daily.

Boys enjoying a little game of basketball.  Not the biggest fan of the game, but it could be worse.  It could be hockey.

Water Table and the Scary Deck

We got a water table!  Well actually it was the girl’s first birthday present.  I finally convinced Brett to let me open it early so that the boys can play with it.  He says I always get what I want.  Is that true?

Water and the boys are a formula for fun!  They absolutely love to play in water (ie: puddle splashing video).  Most nights the boys ask to take a tubby.  We would probably forget to bathe them if they didn’t request it.

So I wanted to put the water table on the deck so it was enclosed and they could play out there while someone was still inside with the girls.  It was actually Sarah that discovered this, but the boys are afraid of the deck this year.  They don’t like the cracks in the floor.  They won’t go on it without holding someone’s hand.  I finally got them to the water table and the entire time they played they held onto it.  It was when they wanted to come in that they looked like they were stranded on an island.  I guess they found support in each other to make their way back to the house.  I wasn’t torturing them but wanted them to figure out they were safe.  The holding hands was just a bonus!

Seriously Jocelyn!

What is the deal with the wipes?  Every time I turn around.  Do you know that each individual wipe costs 2 cents?

Move over Mary Poppins!

Introducing our new Nanny, Sarah!  She is cute, she is sweet, and she doesn’t mind when Jocelyn spits sweet potatoes back at her.  Sarah has been working full time watching the kids since the beginning of May.  She is doing an outstanding job despite the early morning start time.  Sarah lives very close so she has it timed out to wake up at 6:50 am and walk into our house at 7am.  We have bonded over the belief that showers are overrated and sleep is first priority.

Sarah has a teaching degree and was substitute teaching this past year in addition to nannying for another local family.  I am not sure if she enjoys long walks by the beach or sunsets, but she does enjoy being active (thanks for the work out CD) and eating greek yogurt!  Yuck!

2011.05.10 Sarah and JocelynDespite the tantrums and the biting she still returns.  I am thinking of giving her a summer bonus if she successfully potty trains the boys.  Sarah, we are so glad that you came along.  We feel incredibly lucky to have you caring for our children.  We look forward to an awesome summer with you part of the family.  Yup it is official, you are part of PairSquared.
