7 weeks yesterday

Ethan and Bennett turned 7 weeks yesterday. I am wondering what I am going to do when they get too big to share a boppy for their Mom's home pic photo shoots. These guys are too cute!Ethan Bennett

I don't let them nap in the boppy (they nap in their cribs) but yesterday our friend Annie visited to I made an exception. They were spoiled!

trip to somerset

Last weekend we went to somerset, wi to visit the family. As you can see Bennett and Ethan had a really good time playing with thier cousins.

smiles on tummy time

Catching these smiles are tough. It takes about 20 minutes and a lot of bad pictures before you can catch one. Thank goodness we got a new camera that takes pictures much faster than our old one. This would be Ethan.

another favorite

Because it is cute and we just really like this one!

our thug

Seems a little odd to have such a great and peaceful picture while he is wearing a "thug 4 eva" onesie. This is just one of the many onesies that my friend Jenny stamped for the boys. She brought all her stamping supplies to Methodist Hospital when I was in the antipartum unit. Brett came up with this one for sure! Oh yeah, this is Bennett.

When people see us with twins the first question we mostly get is, "are they twins?" when clearly the answer is yes or by an act of god I delivered two singleton boys really, really close in age. The second question is, "did you use fertility drugs?" Some people may see this as a more personal question, but they ask it. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt here because I know they are curious. It is ok to me. The third question we get, "do twins run in your family?" This question is not the easy yes or no. It is more of a yes and no answer. Yes we have another set of twins in the Scott family, but I am not a blood relative to my sister in law. As most of you know, Brett's brother Brian and wife Tina have twins, Titus and Genesis. This is an anomaly. I would like to give the boys some credit but I think that the women were the driving force on this one. Brett says that the reason we had twins was because of my competive nature. I don't want to admit it, but he may be right.
It is fun to have the two sets of twins. We can compare notes and share! Tina did some reminising of T and G as infants when E and B were born. I have some pictures.

Becoming Baby Wise

So after our multiple nights of endless crying which resulted in little to no sleep, we have decided to get Baby Wise. We read this book when we were in Mexico for our friends wedding (I can prove it!) but of course barely retained any of it. I was impressed that Brett even had the energy to re read the highlights but we were in need of making a major change in this house.

On Friday we started the baby wise. Basically it is Eat, Play, Sleep, REPEAT! Yes, you repeat that about 6 times a day and then at night you do Eat, Sleep. The first nights didn't really prove anything but the past two nights have been heavenly. We slept for 5 hours straight both nights. It was odd because the first night we fed at 12:30am, went to bed at 1:30am, and the next thing I knew was that I was looking at the clock and it was 6:30am. First I freaked out because I thought I slept through their cries. This isn't possible. Every time they peep I am up. We went to the crib and they were sleeping peacefully. We had to wake them! Yes, we woke them (sorry mom). Part of baby wise is that you have a scheduled morning feeding and ours is 6:30am. You wake them at this time regardless if they are sleeping. Don't worry they go back to bed by 8:00am. So I am enjoying this book. I am enjoying the sleep. Then last night we had the exact same thing happen. I didn't want to write about it yesterday because I didn't want to jinx myself. I was worried it was too good to be true. I took pictures which I like to call, "Our Babies on Baby Wise!" It kind of reminds me of "your brain on drugs" commercial. I posted a picture for those that can remember these commercials when we were kids.

6 weeks today

These pictures are from today. Today marks 6 weeks! Last week we had to go to the doctor for Bennett (just turned out to be reflux) and they weighed him at 8 lbs 12 oz with his clothes and diaper on. He pees a lot so I'm sure he was carrying some heat in his pampers. Ethan weighed in at 8 lbs 2 ozs with his clothes and diaper on. We have our 2 month appointment in a couple of weeks.

Wanted to show you what my living room looks like. Baby center! We have moved out and around any unneeded furniture and replaced it with swings and baby entertainment.

This would be one of those moments where Bennett is getting in Ethan's face!

is that me or my brother?

We got new toys from or friend Betsy! Betsy visited yesterday. This morning we played with the mirrors. Ethan and Bennett spent at least 3 minutes looking at themselves in the mirror. Hehe! Ethan is in the bouncy seat. There was a different toy hanging from the center spot but I switched it out for this much cooler toy. Brett and I wonder if when they look in the mirror if they just think that they are looking at their brother. They might be behind on this one due to being twins. What am I talking about - not possible for our kids!

I just took these pictures today. Tomorrow the boys will be 6 weeks old. The time has gone by way fast!

Ethan with hat hair.

See I told you that the mirrors didn't last that long.

mother's day rocked

Brett dressed the boys especially for me on Mother's day. Notice their onesies. It was a great day! We had our morning feeding and Brett took the boys and I got to go back to bed. Brett woke me up with breakfast in bed! Later that day Ethan and Bennett gave me their card that was made just by them. It had two hearts painted on it. I guess after I went to bed Brett and the boys got to work. Brett dipped their hands in the paint and guided them to make the painted hearts with their knuckles. It wasn't until after I received that card at the next feeding I noticed that they had blue and green gunk under their finger nails and in between their fingers. They got one by me! For dinner, the boys took me to Sonic! It was just right for us. We hung out in the car, Ethan and Bennett in their car seats as we ate our Mother's Day burger! It was the perfect first Mother's Day! Below is the boys all packed up for Sonic. The blankets on top of them were made especially by great grandma Polson.

When we got back home it was Ethan and Bennett's turn to eat. See the video. It was pretty funny! We are sure that they were thinking, forget these binkys we want the real deal!

Thanks to everyone that remembered me on Mother's Day! It was greatly appreciated!

tummy time

Ethan is in the white and Bennett is in the blue. These boys are getting stronger. See the video of Bennett below!

This is the best video that I have of Bennett on tummy time. Ethan wasn't as interested in lifting his head this day, but you get the idea!

Great Grandmas make everything better

Ethan and Bennett are fortunate to have 3 great grandmas in addition to their Grandma and Nana. Brett and I are so lucky to have some grandmas that are pretty special to us.
Great Grandma Polson
Great Grandma Scott
Great Grandma Souhrada

green peas and blue elephants

Ethan is sporting a footless sleeper with green peas and a matching cap. Bennett smiles as he shows off his blue elephant sleeper from Gymboree. These outfits came from or friends Chuck and Sue. She didn't even know about the Bennett Blue and Ethan Green. It has worked out a few times that we have received blue and green of outfits. Let me tell you how much I even use this system...mostly at night, but the other night Ethan was up crying a lot. When I woke up that morning I realized that Brett had switched their swaddles and Bennett was in the green swaddle. The whole night I thought it was Ethan. Don't judge...I know my children, but you try figuring out what twin is who when it is 4 am and you don't have contacts in. It is just easier to look at what they are wearing. So the above picture is about the best shot that I got of them in this outfit. I was going to use them for their 3 month pictures but I don't think these outfits are going to make it that long. These kids are growing and are really long! Brett measured Bennett the other day and he was 23 inches.
This is a horrible picture!
I almost got a black eye taking this picture!

no sleeping on this vacation

Grandma Lamon needed a vacation so she came to see her grandsons! I am not sure how much of a vacation it turned out to be considering she got up in the middle of the night with me so that Brett could have a full night of sleep. Full night of sleep...what is that?? Lucky for Grandma I mistakenly ate some peppers on an Arby's sandwich which kept her busy. We were up ALL NIGHT. Grandma likes to stay busy so I would say that it turned out pretty perfect! My mom might be thinking otherwise. I didn't tell her but one time in the middle of the night I got up because I heard them crying. I headed to the nursery but mom had already beaten me into the room. She was picking up the babies from the crib. As soon as I saw her I turned around and went back to bed. Her back was turned to me. I do feel a little guilty, but I knew that when she got home there was a full nights sleep in the cards for her. Sorry mom!! But thank you too!

This is a picture of Ethan sleeping on a boppy. This is how Grandma Lamon likes to position them. Don't worry, she is not far away when they are napping. Ethan is laying in the hallway next to our loft where mom was sewing. You know how babies like the sound of a vacuum, our babies are going to love the sound of a sewing machine. He was peaceful! I can remember being at Grandma Cookie's house and hearing her sew in the laundry room when she would let me nap in the living room. I'll never forget some sounds and smells.

308! That is the number of pictures I took in one week! There is a benefit of having children in the age of digital pictures. Even though you take 308 I don't have to pay for developing all those pictures when I only got about 10 good shots. Babies are tough to photograph. The tummy time picture below is from a week ago. The boys were 5 weeks old. This was the last time that they squeezed into their newborn sleepers (thanks JC!). Partly the move to the 0-3 sleepers is for my benefit. It is easier to get them in and out which is important when you are getting them in and out about 10 times a day to change a dirty diaper.

Ethan must have been happy this day. I got a few pictures of smiles!
Usually one is happy and the other one wants to sleep. Bennett was content!

So Bennett and Ethan are lucky to have some pretty cool aunts! Aunts that visit them just when they were first born, aunts that buy them gifts (see outfits above), aunts that hold them and tell them how much they love them, aunts that read to them, aunts that babysit, and so much more!

Aunt Kelly vising nephews in the hospital.

Aunt Colleen lovin' Ethan!

Aunt Tina reading Rusty's Bone to the boys!

Ethan and Bennett have one more official aunt that they can't wait to meet! Izzy, this cry goes out to you in CA! Get your butt back here so you can see your nephews!
